Dubai's summer between June and September isn't just uncomfortable — it's actively hostile to a range of medical supplies. Diagnostic strips, reagents, certain gels and creams, and any product with a 'store below 25 °C' label will silently degrade in the back of a hot delivery van.

Here is how we handle it, and what you should look for in any supplier you use.

The three-tier temperature rule. We split every order into three logistics tiers: (a) ambient-safe up to 40 °C (masks, gloves, gauze), (b) controlled ambient 15–25 °C (some vitamins, most creams), (c) cold-chain 2–8 °C (specific diagnostic reagents, insulin adjuncts). Tier (c) never rides in the same van as Tier (a).

Van insulation. Standard delivery vans in Dubai hit 55–60 °C inside during a 20-minute stop. Even a Tier (b) product will cook. We use double-lined polystyrene coolers with pre-frozen gel packs — one pack per 2 kg of controlled-ambient stock.

Time-stamped drops. Every controlled delivery gets a temperature logger. The logger prints a graph on delivery. If your supplier can't show you the graph, they're not doing what they claim.

Your side of the process. Have someone available to receive the delivery within a 30-minute window. If nobody is on site, we hold the order and try again — we never leave temperature-sensitive stock at reception.

Questions to ask before ordering. (1) Do you use dedicated cold-chain vans between June and September? (2) Can I see a sample temperature log? (3) What is your policy if delivery is delayed past 30 minutes? Any answer other than a clear yes to (1) and (3) — or a document for (2) — is a signal to source elsewhere for those items.
